Word comes from an alert reader that Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore were in Cedar Rapids three weeks ago for the funeral of his grandfather on his mother’s side. (See previous post about them ordering food to go from Hacienda Las Glorias in Cedar Rapids.)
A search of Gazette archives shows that Vincent R. Finnegan of Williamsburg died March 6 following a sudden illness and that the funeral mass was held March 10 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. One of his 10 surviving children is Ashton Kutcher’s mother, Diane Portwood. Since Mr. Finnegan was survived by 27 grandchildren, among them Ashton Kutcher, Kutcher’s name was not listed in the obituary.
If Ashton Kutcher and his wife, Demi Moore, were in Cedar Rapids and Williamsburg for a funeral without being mobbed by fans, more power to them for being able to slip in and out of Eastern Iowa to spend needed time with family. The couple can’t seem to go anywhere without the papparazi on their tail as evidenced by the number of “hits” you’ll get simply by typing ”Ashton and Demi” in your Internet search engine.
