Ashton and Demi in CR?

Today may be April 1, April Fools’ Day, but this is no April Fools’ Day joke.

Last Friday night when my wife, Suz, and I stopped to have a margarita (the best in town) at Hacienda Las Glorias on Center Point Road NE in Cedar Rapids, we learned that CR’s own Ashton Kutcher and his wife, Demi Moore, had made their presence known there two weeks earlier.

No, Ashton and Demi didn’t drop in to have a margarita. But, apparently, they were staying at the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center and called in an order to go. They sent a driver from the hotel to pick up six chicken enchiladas and side orders of rice and beans.

Sure, Ashton is known for pulling pranks, a la his MTV show “Punk’d.” But my source swears she’s telling the truth. After all, we know his connections to Eastern Iowa. And if you watched him on “That ’70s Show,” you know he’s full of beans.

In the meantime, if you haven’t had enough of April Fools’ Day pranks yet, check out this Web site which lists the 100 greatest April Fools’ Day pranks of all time:

While you’re at this Web site, check out the link to the worst 10 April Fools’ Day Hoaxes of all time, one including Mount Trashmore in Virginia:

“In the same genre of non-funny disaster warnings, there’s also WNOR’s 1992 April 1st report in which it warned that a large build-up of methane gas was about to cause a fiery explosion at Mount Trashmore, a landfill near Virginia Beach. Residents were warned to evacuate the area, causing the local 911 to be flooded with calls. The DJs responsible for the prank were suspended without pay for two weeks.

It’s probably joke enough that there’s another Mount Trashmore in the U.S.
